Chieftain's manufacturing facility is located in Dungannon, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland. From here, we design and build trailers that serve industries across the globe.
Our factory produces the full Chieftain range, from agricultural dump trailers and commercial low loaders to specialist fuel bowsers and rail trailers.
Manufacturing Process
Design
Our in-house design and engineering team uses SolidWorks for detailed 3D modelling and simulation. This allows every component to be carefully developed and assessed before production begins. Every Chieftain trailer is engineered for strength, durability and practical use, with close attention paid to performance, reliability and ease of operation.
Steel Preparation
Steel is automatically shot blasted before production, creating a clean surface that improves weld quality and prepares the material for the manufacturing process. CNC laser and plasma equipment provides precision cutting of plate and section steel, while our 12-metre hydraulic press enables accurate folding and forming. This advanced equipment allows us to achieve consistent dimensions, clean finishes and a high level of accuracy across every build.
Fabrication
Experienced craftsmen carry out all welding and fabrication, ensuring strength, accuracy and consistent quality across every unit. Their practical knowledge and attention to detail help ensure that each structure is manufactured to meet the demands of challenging working environments. Components are carefully checked throughout fabrication before progressing to the next stage.
Paint Shop
The completed trailer is shot blasted again before priming and top-coat painting. This thorough preparation helps create a clean, consistent surface and supports strong paint adhesion. The result is a professional finish with the protection needed to withstand the toughest working environments.
Assembly
Full assembly includes axles, suspension, braking systems, hydraulics, lighting and finishing. Each system is carefully installed and checked to ensure it operates correctly and reliably. Every trailer is fully tested before dispatch, helping to ensure it is ready to perform from the moment it enters service.
Quality Control
Rigorous inspection takes place at every stage of production. Chieftain trailers are built to exceed expectations and meet international standards, with quality checks covering materials, fabrication, finishing and final assembly. A comprehensive Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) is completed before dispatch to confirm that every trailer meets our required standards.
Bespoke Builds
We provide custom trailer solutions for specialist requirements. Our engineering team works directly with customers to understand their operational needs and develop a practical, purpose-built solution. From initial design through to final production, every bespoke trailer is created with performance, durability and long-term reliability in mind.
Location
Our factory is situated on the Coalisland Road in Dungannon, with excellent transport links to Belfast, Dublin and the wider UK via the M1 motorway.
