Fuel Cubes by Chieftain Trailers

Chieftain's static fuel cubes provide a robust, self-contained solution for the storage and dispensing of diesel on construction, agricultural and industrial sites. Fully bunded and built for durability, they offer a practical alternative to more permanent fuel storage installations, while integrated pumping equipment provides a complete dispensing solution straight from delivery.

Available in 900-litre and 1,900-litre capacities, Chieftain's fuel cubes feature an inner tank housed within a steel outer tank to provide secondary containment. The fully bunded design helps contain fuel in the event of a leak, providing an added level of protection for the surrounding site and environment.

Designed with flexibility and practicality in mind, both models are stackable, allowing multiple units to be transported or stored efficiently. The 900-litre and 1,900-litre cubes can be stacked three high when empty and two high when full, helping to maximise available space and reduce handling and transport requirements.

Integrated pumping equipment is supplied as standard, including a 12V Piusi pump, 12V battery, solar charging panel, fuel filter, four-digit flow meter, 5-metre delivery hose and automatic shut-off nozzle. The dispensing equipment is housed within a lockable cabinet, providing a secure and convenient solution for on-site fuel storage and dispensing.

With robust steel construction, secondary containment, integrated dispensing equipment and a space-efficient design, Chieftain's fuel cubes provide a dependable solution for businesses that need secure diesel storage close to their equipment and operations.

Why Choose Chieftain?

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a static fuel cube?

A static fuel cube is a bunded fuel storage container designed to remain in a fixed position on a farm, construction site, or depot. Unlike a towable bowser, it is not intended for road transport. Chieftain static fuel cubes provide secure, compliant fuel storage with secondary containment built in.

Do static fuel cubes need planning permission?

Planning requirements for static fuel storage vary by local authority and volume. In many cases, fuel cubes under a certain capacity can be placed without full planning permission, but environmental regulations regarding bunding, spill containment, and distance from watercourses always apply. Check with your local council and the Environment Agency (or NIEA in Northern Ireland).

What capacities of static fuel cube does Chieftain manufacture?

Chieftain offer static fuel cubes including the 900 Litre and 1,900 Litre models. The cubes feature fully bunded construction, lockable access, and optional dispensing equipment. The range covers requirements from small farm operations to larger depot and construction site fuel storage.

What are the environmental regulations for fuel storage on farms?

Farm fuel storage in the UK and Ireland must comply with regulations covering secondary containment (bunding), spill prevention, and distance from watercourses and drains. All Chieftain static fuel cubes are bunded as standard, meeting the requirement for 110% secondary containment capacity. Specific regulations vary by region, so check with the Environment Agency, SEPA, or NIEA.

How does a static fuel cube compare to a towable fuel bowser?

A static fuel cube is designed for fixed-site storage and dispensing, providing a secure fuel supply at a farm, depot, or construction site. A towable bowser is mobile, allowing fuel to be delivered to remote locations via public roads. Many operations use both: a static cube as the primary store and a towable bowser for field refuelling.

Can Chieftain static fuel cubes dispense fuel directly into vehicles?

Yes. Chieftain static fuel cubes can be fitted with dispensing equipment including fuel pumps, delivery hoses, nozzles, and flow meters. This allows direct refuelling of tractors, plant, and vehicles on site without the need for a separate fuel delivery. The dispensing setup can be configured to suit your operational requirements.

Are Chieftain static fuel cubes lockable and secure?

Yes. Chieftain static fuel cubes feature lockable access points to prevent unauthorised use and fuel theft. The bunded construction provides environmental security by containing any leaks within the outer skin. For high-risk sites, additional security measures such as padlocks and tamper-evident fittings can be specified.
